
Larry Altshuler. M.D. graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 1972, and received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1976. He has been a board certified Internist since 1979, and has worked at numerous hospitals as a primary care provider as well as specialist. He has also conducted FDA-directed research in low level energy lasers since 1984.
Dr. Altshuler not only practices conventional medicine but is also an expert in alternative medical approaches as well, which he has also used for over 30 years. He is trained or certified in acupuncture, hypnosis, mind-body medicine, Western and Chinese herbology, and QiGong. In addition, he has worked extensively with numerous types of alternative medicine practitioners, including chiropractors, osteopaths, nutritionists, naturopaths, acupuncturists, herbalists (both western and Chinese), energy healers and many others, gaining valuable experience and knowledge.
In 1996, he founded the Balanced Healing Medical Center, a unique health care clinic in Oklahoma City, combining the use of conventional medicine with alternative methods. Currently, he is using his expertise as an Internist/Hospitalist at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, treating cancer patients using both types of medical approaches.
Dr. Altshuler is a recognized author, having published four books. His first book, Balanced Healing: Combining Modern Medicine with Safe and Effective Alternative Therapies, was released in February, 2004 and was awarded the USA Book News “Best Book 2004” in the health category. He also is the author of The Balanced Healing Guide to Arthritis, The Bird Flu primer and is co-author of The Everything Guide to Herbal Remedies. His current book, Boom or Bust: Conquering Diseases of Aging, is now available as an ebook on this website.
In addition, Dr. Altshuler has published several scientific articles on Alternative Medicine and Acupuncture, for which he won the Charlotte Lebron Award for best scientific article in 2000. He has been interviewed by over 150 media outlets and has appeared as a guest on television and radio both regionally and nationally. He has lectured extensively and been quoted in numerous national health magazines and newspapers, as well as being a contributing writer for Radius magazine.
